Paul Update

Paul is in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

We survived the surgery.
I feel like cartwheeling and collapsing at the same time.

So what did I do to celebrate my son's getting through a difficult 4 hour surgery that will require hospitalization for the next possible five weeks?

I needed to do something different. Something mundane.

So naturally, yesterday, I bought a 12 passenger van.

You can't make this stuff up.
Cheers.

YEEEEEHAAAAWWWWW!! Did you run down the hall and hug everyone you met? Praise the Lord and Pass the M&M's!!

Is this a total fix surgery or one of several?

I'm trying to figure out how buying a TWELVE PASSENGER VAN is mundane.......

it's not exactly run-of-the-mill ya know.

That makes perfect sense to me.
I'll be praying for Paul.

Praising God for the success of Paul surgery and praying he will continue to steadily improve. Yea for the mundane!

Well, after the intensity of open heart surgery, dealing with people who ask, "May I call you Sherry?" and drone on about the special features of a vehicle and dicker about price felt very bizarre.

It is a permanent fix though he may need additional surgery if there are any leaks that remain. We won't know for a while. He'll be seen once a month the first year, and then twice a year for two years and then once a year for the rest of his life by a cardiologist.

Thank God for the permanent fix!

I really felt bad for parents of babies that would need 4 or 5 steps of open heart surgery over the course of a couple years to fix their heart defects. Just seemed so daunting to me.

So, did you ever get that shower??
